    That is what the festival is in Mexico…..the day of the dead.

    But it is also All Saints Day, says my calendar:
    On May 13, 609 A.D., Pope Boniface IV dedicated the Pantheon in Rome in honor of all Christian martyrs, and so the Catholic feast of All Martyrs Day was established in the Western church. However, later in the 8th century, Pope Gregory III expanded the festival to include all saints as well as all martyrs, and moved the observance from May 13th to November 1st.
    So, it is sort of the same thing as they are all honoring those who have died.
