Today’s SciFri was about light refraction. That means that light waves can get spread out and bent as it passes through transparent stuff.
We made a kind of lantern by putting a bottle of water on top of a LED light. Then a cute little firefly that really lit up!
And we made a fireworks “show” by passing colored light (from the same LED) through plates of plastic. The etched sections diffused (spread out) the light waves and made it look like fireworks going off!
