A boy, a cutie, a dragon

It’s Red Envelope Day

In Asian cultures, gifts of money are often given during holidays or special occasions in red envelopes. They are called Hongbao or li xi. And the red color is for good luck.

I made these envelopes from my Days kit, and Mom and Grammie (from a distance!) put money in them for me!

Then I got to make these neat good luck coins with each of the animals of the Chinese zodiac on them. We used clay and pressed it into a mold, then baked them until they were hard.

I am glad you are learning about all these things. They are important to know if you are to become the eventual owner of a historical building in Honolulu Chinatown.
I was going to get you a Year of the Tiger t-shirt, but I see you beat me to it!!
    Hugs!!
