Marshmallow Science follow up

We poked and prodded and took them out of the jars to look up close

And then brought out the microscope to look even closer!

We had fun with this experiment! We did 5 jars for our at home test. My hypothesis was that the Sprite would dissolve first and the Coke would take the longest, whereas Mom thought the vinegar would go first and the water last.

In our case, the vinegar marshmallows were definitely the most broken down, followed by the Sprite, then the Coke, then the Water, and finally our cranberry juice. The vinegar and Sprite ones disintegrated almost immediately upon touching, while the Coke and juice ones were merely soft, and the water was the least changed. Interestingly, all except the juice left a similar amount of residue on the bottom of the jars.

And then we put some Peeps into the microwave and watched them get HUGE!

wow!

That is very interesting!!! So Mom was right but you were a close 2nd! She has a little more scientific and Marshmallow experience, so that figures.
And you both know what they do when you put them in hot chocolate!! YUM!
