SciFri: Apple Experiments

2 “apple” experiments today.
The first was to see if apple slices would brown or not when exposed to different liquids.

Result: still bright white in the lemon juice, super icky brown in the vinegar, kinda brown in the baking soda, and just a little brown in both the milk and the controls (water and no liquid at all)

The second experiment was an “Erupting Apple” made of baking soda that foamed and dissolved when vinegar was added.

That was super fun! And just the right amount of messy!

I never heard of an erupting apple!!! Imagine the surprise of the first person who did it accidentally!!
Probably a more complete job if you do it as a controlled experiment…… outdoors!!! but just as spectacular!!
I’D SAY YOU GET AN “A+” FOR THAT ONE!!
