I mean, everyone knows that cows and elephants live in herds, wolves in packs, sheep in a flock, and fish in schools…
But although horses are counted in herds, zebras congregate in a zeal. Cats are found in a clowder, but lions in a pride and leopards in a leap. Frogs, ants, and termites all live in colonies or armies. You can have a pit of vipers or a quiver of cobras or even a rhumba of rattlesnakes.
Generally birds live in flocks, but… chickens live in a brood, owls in a parliament, eagles in a convocation, emus in a mob, and crows in a murder! Geese are normally found in a gaggle, but if they are in flight, it’s called a skein! And don’t forget the vultures: a wake when they are crowded around a carcass eating, but a kettle if they are flying, and a committee if they are resting in a tree!
So weird, and so confusing! Mom says we will address these again numerous times over the years.
Fortunately this puzzle of big cats was fun to do, no matter what you call them!

I have had 80 years to memorize those designations… and I have not been successful yet. To use Gramps’s favorite word: GOOGLE may be the ultimate answer. On the other hand, it would be a great talent show act…. and you could maybe make up a song!!!
